Transcripts
The primary functionality offered is full-text search via full transcripts that sync to audio playback.
These transcripts are machine generated. They contain errors, even many errors. You will find the timestamps to often be slightly off, and sometimes parts of the conversation are dropped in the transcript. You may encounter duplicated lines in the transcript. However, they offer entrance into the audio and are “good enough” for the purposes of following along with the audio playback.
Perhaps there will be offered a way to make manual corrections in the future, or perhaps the software that enables these types of machine transcriptions will become more accurate in the future and we may regenerate them. However, the current state of the transcripts seems to suffice for the purposes of this archive.
Program Notes: Metadata and Links
An effort has been put into extracting metadata from the program notes and linking to relevant resources.
Speakers have been added as tags. You can browse the list to find all episodes with a specific speaker. You can search for speakers by pressing Shift+Ctrl+K
Tags and URLs may not be stable for the time being because they are being extracted from the program notes and are not always consistent. Work is ongoing to normalize and improve the accuracy of this data. As this occurs, links may shift, along with the tags/speaker metadata attached to an episode.
Images are loaded from their original locations and may be broken.
Similar Episodes
Each episode has a similar episodes section with the top 10 most similar episodes. Similarity is computed using tensorflow + universal sentence encoding. The similarity score is a number between 0 and 1, with 1 being the most similar. The similarity score is calculated by comparing the full text of the current episode to the full text of all other episodes.
